How I cleared IT job interview with Microsoft Technology Division in California

working for Microsoft software company has been a very old dream which I wanted to achieve sooner. I had experience working on programming, Visual C++, Visual Studio & several dot net related projects. I applied for Microsoft & below is my experience of attending Microsoft’s interview.

Make sure to have your resume properly created. If you dont have a professional looking resume they wont bother even considering you for a phone screening. Also make sure to clearly prepare on the projects which are related to the company or to the team for which they are hiring clearly explainable. Meaning many people just put some projects on their resume & they will not be having clear understanding of several factors like process design, development stages, process used for development, developer documentation, debugging , profiling steps or methods used. Build environment - they wont be able to clearly explain. But they will just have some project descriptions in their resume & go ahead with their interview without doing enough preparation to be able to explain their project in detail.Microsoft’s software job interview questions were really challenging but since I did quite a lot of preparation I was comfortable in answering most of them.

I had a 1 hour telephonic interview after the recruitment guy from Microsoft scheduled the interview. It was mainly based on my skills in dot net which they were interested. They wanted me to explain several programming topics & how would I optimise my own code, how would I plan for future debugging or enhancements. How can I increase code reuse, library utilization etc.Focus on covering your basics in C++,VC++ very well.

Then came the face to face interview for which they arranged for me to travel to Redmond. It was really a nice experience giving that interview I will write in detail about that experience soon. Its a much lengthy article which will list out all the interview questions I was asked & how some of my answers were not upto their expectations.
