I will never be the victim of identity theft.

My sister was the victim of identity theft. Although it was not her fault, she has suffered from teh ordeal. This happened two years ago, and she is still having trouble getting a home loan. I will never be the victim of identity theft. Before this happened to my sister, I thought it would never happen to me. Afterall, I am careful when I dispose of personal information. After the crime hit close to home, I knew I had to protect myself. I signed up for a service that guarantees to protect me from identity theft. It costs me some money, but it is worth it. If anyone tries to get credit in my name, I get a phone call. If it is me, I simply tell them that it is a legitimate attempt at obtaining credit. If it is not me, I tell them. Credit is denied, and the person trying to get credit is arrested. It gives me peace of mind.
