Will ‘the dongle’ spell doom for home phones?

April 15th, 2008 by admin

‘The Dongle’ is a portable modem which accesses the internet via 3G and plugs into the USB port of your laptop or computer. This means you can get high speed internet access at home, and on the move, and that you could ditch your fixed line connection altogether.

BT currently charges £124.99 for re-connection or for home moves, money which would be saved by having mobile broadband instead. Mobile broadband prices in the UK can start from as little as £10.00 per month but, just as with aDSL broadband or a mobile telephone contract, it’s very important to be aware of exactly what your contract entails.

Nearly all mobile - broadband contracts include some type of data limitation (with a fine should you exceed) and avoiding a long contractual period at this stage could be a good idea - because dongle products are very new it’s likely that prices will fall as market competition increases… so don’t get tied down too soon!

Dish Network vs Direct TV Channels

April 15th, 2008 by admin

An HD image is so clear is almost seems real. Add to that the Dolby Digital sound that accompanies the picture, and you get a three-dimensional viewing experience that makes you feel like your part of the scene. Cable companies average 180 TV channels which are broadcast in either outdated analog format or digital format. As HD gains in popularity most companies are adding HD channels, especially in the Dish Network vs Direct TV battle. Programming includes national networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, The CW), movie channels, sports channels, news and weather channels, special interest channels, some international channels, pay-per-view channels, and music channels.

Comparing Dish Network vs Direct TV

April 14th, 2008 by admin

If you want good satellite TV service, then you need to investigate Dish Network vs Direct TV. These are the two powerhouses of satellite TV. The entire satellite industry as well as the cable industry is falling far behind these two companies. In nearly all areas that are rated, these two companies rank at the top of the list. Thus, it can be difficult to choose which one would be the best for your home. You should compare them based on some measurement that makes sense to you. If you are concerned about pricing, then cost would be a great place to start a comparison.

Dish Network vs Direct TV - Comparing Satellite TV

April 9th, 2008 by admin

Are you looking into a satellite TV provider? If so, then you will want to find a provider that offers what you want. It’s pointless to go with a service that you will not use. Since you will be signing a contract, it is vital that you do some research before buying. When you are comparing Dish Network vs Direct TV, it is best to compare based on the services that you find interesting. If you are interested in a particular part of the service, such as sports, then you will want to compare the sports offers that the two companies have. Don’t base your comparison on something that is unimportant to you.

Even more registrycleaning tips

April 6th, 2008 by admin

I use a Free Registry Cleaner to clean my Windows registry. I don’t see much point in paying for a registry cleaner when there are such good options available for free. There are registry cleaners out there that you can pay for,and some are even quite expensive, but for most people, free is plenty good as long as you try out a number of them, make registry backups, and figure out which one works best for your needs.

I personally would never use a registry cleaner that could not make and restore backups of the registry. That is just asking for trouble.

Web Database

April 5th, 2008 by admin

Internet or web databases are very useful, for they can be easily accessed through the worldwide web irrespective of where you are in the world, and it’s very easy to make use of to boot!

Databases are used to back a majority of websites today. A web database is usually created in a way that is accessible to a script language such as the Hypertext Preprocessor or PHP. Using a database can add powerful interactive features to your website and save publishing time. It offers you large storage space, and the ability to perform modifications on your data without getting lost in all the technicalities.

Apart from the two basic functions, a web database is also used to create database-driven websites. By using a database in a website, you will be able to perform a number of tasks such as send images, text messages and other web content information to an individual viewing the website. Instead of the usual static site pages, you can deliver various pieces of information to the viewer.

Law Framework For Wireless Network Adapter

April 3rd, 2008 by admin

As technical science progresses and advanced improvements are brought to computerized products constantly, the law must keep up with its standards and regulations world wide. The current European standard enforced is IEEE 802.11 with its various amendments. Frequency, channels, slot numbers, interface and specific country tension regulations are stated in each 802.11a – 802.11z, corresponding to the wireless network adapter model. Whether they are USB 1.0,2.0, PCI or PCMCIA, the adapters must be in compliance with international standards so that they can be exported and distributed to any corner on the planet.

Registry Cleaner Reviews - Read Up

April 3rd, 2008 by admin

If you’re looking for a good registry cleaner then the best thing to do is search the net for information about all the programs that are available.  Using a registry cleaner is a great way to improve the performance of your computer but since the registry is such an important part of your computer then I’d only trust a good software program made by a reputable software company.

If you read up on some registry cleaner reviews you’ll find that RegCure by ParetoLogic is consistently ranked at the top of all the registry cleaner review lists available.  And for good reason.  RegCure is a great program that I personally use to keep my laptop running well.  I think it’s helpful also in improving the boot speed of your computer because of the easy to use startup manager that is included with the program.

Windows Slowing Down On You?

April 2nd, 2008 by admin

Is your computer running slow?  Is it crashing and freezing all of a sudden?  I recently had this problem.  I had just upgraded my sound card driver after uninstalling the software that runs it.  Well, little did I know that the uninstallation process left a bunch of files in the registry.

In order to fix the problem I ran a registry cleaner.  I used RegCure, which I had purchased following reading a RegCure Review.  It’s a great program that’s so easy to use my grandfather could do it.  It scanned my computer and found a bunch of obsolete and orphaned registry files that were conflicting with the new sound card driver I had installed.

The registry is pretty complicated and it’s not recommended that you attempt to go and look to fix it on your own by hand.

What I like and don’t like about Dish Network and Direct TV

April 2nd, 2008 by admin

Okay, first let’s talk about what’s great about the big two satellite companies Dish Network and Direct TV. First is the price. I’m getting more and better programming now, and at around a third of the price, than I ever got with cable. But now here’s the bad news. Unlike with cable or the phone company, where you can bundle absolutely everything together, the satellite companies still have a way to go before everything is truly integrated. But that’s just about the onlly downside in my opinion.

Key Feature When Choosing the Best Registry Fix Program

March 30th, 2008 by admin

A key feature to look for when making the choice for the Best Registry Fix software for your preferences would be the ability to automatically backup and restore the registry BEFORE you go ahead with the cleaning process.

Registry cleaners that have this function sometimes have this option disabled and therefore would have the user go into the settings area to enable this very necessary function.  Also the restore function is the other side of the coin for the back up and is necessary in the case that the computer user would want to revert to the old registry configuration.

Getting Humidified

March 21st, 2008 by admin

When you live in the basement apartment of a house, and the furnace is your roommate, any moisture that you may usually attribute to a basement is quickly evaporated by the heat and drying power of the furnace. And that drying power quickly goes after you as well. Dry eyes, dry skin and hair are the trade off for a lower rent rate. So we got a humidifier, that climed to be "whisper" qiuet. Right. Not only was the motor not whisper quiet, but after running smoothly for a month or so, it sarted gurgle. No matter how often we cleaned out the humidifier and the filter, it just gurgled all the time. Plus it wasn’t convenient to move the from the main living area to the bedroom at night. My Dad, most likely sick of hearing me complain about the humidifier, bought me a very small Bedside Humidifier. It really is whisper quiet, and it has a night light. It sits right on the nightstand, and we no longer wake up feeling as though someone has been attempting to mummify us in our sleep.

Xbox 360 3 Red Lights - Common Causes

March 19th, 2008 by admin

There is more than one reason that the Xbox 360 has been plagued by the infamous xbox 360 3 red lights problem. The list below presents some of the most common causes:

Overheating: This is the number one reason for the 3 red lights problem on the Xbox 360. The X360 is a powerful computer and its components are crammed into a relatively small space. This tends to cause overheating, especially during heavy game use. To resolve this problem (assuming it can be resolved simply) you need to improve airflow through the main Xbox 360 unit. The main unit has air holes curt in to it to help improve airflow. To get the most out of these pre-made air holes, make sure you keep your Xbox unit out in the open and not enclosed in a console.

The GPU. This cause is somewhat controversial because Microsoft hasn’t officially listed it as a cause of the 3 red lights problems, so any information is pretty much speculation. We try to stay away from speculation, so that’s all we’re going to say about the GPU until more information is available.

Motherboard Warping: This is related to excessive heat. The logic goes, if excessive heat is allowed to build up inside the GPU, it can cause the motherboard to warp, which in turn cause solder joints to crack, which then leads to the 3 red lights problem. This one sounds more plausible, but the fix is the same in that you need more cooling in the GPU.
