Symptoms of menopause

Dr. Robert Wilson’s book "Feminine Forever" has sharply focused the attention of women on the value of preventing the major menopausal symptoms by appropriate physician supervised estrogen therapy.
Recent scientific studies by competent research specialists are beginning to show that symptoms of menopause like osteoporosis (softening of the bones) and certain types of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) may be prevented or delayed by steroid therapy. But much more research must be performed to provide absolute proof.
Unfortunately, there are a number of alleged menopausal signs and symptoms encountered at this period of life which are unrelated to t estrogen deficiencies.
Dr. Wilson does not emphasize this fact and the article leaves the impression that estrogen therapy is the long lost fountain of youth and a panacea for all health problems.
