In order to achieve a good weight training routine, you must have a proper weightlifting warmup. It is a good idea to start your routine for the day with five to ten minutes of cardiovascular activity. This can be kept light if you are trying to gain weight. This starts the blood circulating and gets your adrenaline started. The next important thing for a proper weightlifting warmup is light stretching of the muscle groups you are about to train. Light stretching means nothing over five to ten minutes so that you do not damage your muscles. Your post weightlifting stretches are the most important, and should be done for about twenty minutes to ensure a good stretch. Following this should allow you to achieve a great workout!
