Despite the untold millions of pet owners in the U.S., a huge percentage of them do not have any form of pet insurance; this is peculiar when they are generally loved like any other person in the home. The average American will have health insurance; should we be forgiven for not caring enough about our pets then?
Considered by many as an unnecessary expense; this attitude quickly changes when these pet owners are presented with the bills for treatment. Just as with private medical insurance, vets costs have risen sharply since the early 1990’s; of course the knock-on effect has been a rise in pet insurance premiums.
The rising cost of protection is one point to consider but are there any others? The problem is that domestic animals are often more liable to be involved in an accident or become sick; this can happen at any time and usually when you can least afford it!
If you are in this unenviable position then a choice may have to be made; the last thing you want to think about is how you will pay for your animal to have urgent treatment.
This situation happened to me a couple of years ago when I was looking at spending one thousand dollars to save my dog; all I could think about at the time was whether he was worth the cost, that’s awful, isn’t it? Successful treatment in these instances is never guaranteed; however, you will still have to pay for the cost of treatment.
The financial strain of keeping your pet healthy can be overwhelming; financial difficulties can arise and set you back when you least expect, or can afford them. If you are over-extended at the bank, you may be forced into borrowing money.
If you love your pet, it should have the best treatment you can afford; if you have pet insurance you can guarantee they will get the best treatment your policy will allow. You wouldn’t skimp when learning how to training your dog, so why skimp on protecting them? Pet healthcare insurance can usually be purchased relatively inexpensively despite recent rises; these can be arranged for as little as twenty dollars or so per month although better policies will cost twice that.
Nearly all pet healthcare policies can be tailor-made to suit individual circumstances; this can even extend to offering multi-pet discounts. If you are a pet owner then perhaps this article has given you something to think about. with a bit of luck this information will have convinced you of the importance of having your pet protected.
