Best Buy Continues Domination

With the recent announcement that Circuit City will close 155 stores, it has become even more apparent that Best Buy is dominating the consumer-electronics market. Circuit City is just the latest electronics retailer to run into troubles, but its store closings will likely only further benefit Best Buy by reducing its competition in many markets. It is actually amazing that Circuit City has not filed for bankruptcy like Tweeter and other electronics companies, but a Chapter 11 may still be in the cards. It is unclear how things will play out, but I think Best Buy will come out as a strong winner once consumer spending begins to pick back up.
